Matching pieces

Matches can run horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Three or more aligned pieces merge into stronger pieces.

For a match of X pieces, the game creates X − 2 upgraded pieces, placing them as close to the center of the match as possible.

Rooms and moves

The server backend stores room information and lets clients in the same room exchange moves. Connections use WebSockets, allowing the game to run in a web browser.

My multiplayer work connects room management with the turn-by-turn exchange of moves between players.

Animation synchronization

A move can trigger animations on both clients. The game waits until both clients finish those animations before continuing, keeping the match from advancing while one player is still watching the previous move.

Disconnect handling

If either player disconnects during a match, the match ends immediately. This is the current behavior; the game does not continue the match with a missing player.
